Planning before the walls close
The expensive mistakes in remodel electrical are almost always omissions, not errors. A missing outlet on a finished wall costs many times what it would have cost during rough-in.
Before we wire anything we walk the plan with you and ask where furniture goes, where you will actually stand and work, and what might be added in a few years.
Questions worth answering early
- Where the island, range, and refrigerator will actually sit
- Whether the range and dryer will be gas or electric, now or later
- How many outlets each work surface really needs
- Whether a car charger or heat pump is coming within five years
- Where television, network gear, and speakers will live
- Whether the new load needs a panel upgrade or a subpanel
Plan for electrification now
If a heat pump or car charger is anywhere in your plans, say so during rough-in. Running a subpanel or leaving capacity while the walls are open is inexpensive. Doing it afterwards is a separate project.
How a remodel job runs

Plan review and quote
We work from your drawings or walk the space with you and your contractor. The quote separates rough-in from finish so it lines up with how the project gets billed.

Permit and rough-in
We pull the permit, then run cable, set boxes, and land circuits while the walls are open. This stage has to finish before insulation and drywall.

Rough inspection
The town inspector reviews the work before it is covered. We attend and handle anything raised, because a failed rough inspection stops every other trade.

Finish and final
After walls and paint, we fit devices, fixtures, and covers, test everything, and meet the inspector for final sign-off.
Does the project need a panel upgrade?
A remodel adds load. A kitchen alone may need several dedicated circuits before you count lighting, and a finished basement adds more. Whether your existing service can carry it is a calculation, not a guess.
We run that calculation at quote stage so a panel upgrade, if needed, is in the budget from the start rather than appearing halfway through as a surprise.

Working alongside your other trades
On a remodel, electrical is rarely the constraint on its own. It becomes one when the rough-in is late, or the inspection is not booked, and the insulator cannot start.
We coordinate directly with your general contractor, keep to the agreed sequence, and flag conflicts early rather than discovering them at the wall.

Permits and inspection
Remodel electrical requires a permit and, in almost all cases, two inspections: one at rough-in before the work is covered, and one at completion.
Skipping this causes real trouble later. Unpermitted work shows up in a home sale, can affect an insurance claim, and leaves you responsible for whatever a future inspector finds behind the drywall.
